Spring is in the air!

Well, we’ve made it to September, which inevitably means that spring is here. We are all excited to shake off that winter chill and feel the glorious, warm sunny rays on our faces. Today we are sharing ways to help you get out of that winter slump and ready to enjoy the warmer weather and longer days.

1. Spring cleaning
This undoubtedly is the oldest piece of advice when it comes to spring, but it is not without merit. We need to start afresh and when our homes are decluttered it gives us the opportunity to appreciate all the other beautiful aspects that make our home so special.

2. Get a haircut
Tired of the same old look you’ve had for the last two years? Now is the time to make the change. If the world gets the opportunity to reinvent itself in this changing of season, why shouldn’t you?

3. Revamp your exercise routine
Why not do something that will get you out of the house? This is the best time to go for a morning jog or walk. This can be done with the entire family and aid as a healthy alternative to sitting in front of the television when the sun is begging us to come and play.

4. Plan trips away
Plan a few trips, either for yourself, for some relaxation and rehabilitation, like a day trip to the spa, or you can tackle a weekend adventure with the family. It does not have to be far away or expensive, it can even be to the local water park.

4. Stock up on hay fever medications
As beautiful as the change of season is with a spectrum of colours and greenery, this does come with a drawback… seasonal allergies. If you are prone to inflammation in the nose which occurs when the immune system overreacts to allergens in the air, you need to stock up hay fever medicine. A great alternative is to use the IPS Immune Booster if this is a recurring problem.

6. Get a manicure and pedicure
Especially the pedicure, as our feet will be adorned with stylish sandals and peep-toe shoes, so we need to ensure that they are in immaculate shape.

7. Sort out the wardrobe
It is time to pack up those winter warmers and bring forth the floral dresses. Also, remember to get all those thick winter blankets and throws back in the cupboard.

8. Look after your skin
The glorious summer rays do come with a word of caution… look after your skin. The sun is one of the biggest factors that can lead to premature aging, therefore it is important to protect your skin against the harmful rays of the sun. The SPF coverage on a bottle indicates the amount of time it protects your skin before you should re-apply.

9. Go outside
Do not let the fear of the sun’s rays keep you from going outside. South Africa offers beautiful scenery and outdoor adventures during this time of the year. Take the family and go for a picnic, take a hike and get up close with nature’s beauty.

10. Review your eating habits
An easy regime to follow is to ‘eat a rainbow’. When you eat fruit and vegetables of different colours you are more likely to get in a wider variety of nutrients. Unfortunately, this rainbow does not include Smarties and Astros. Eat with the seasons. Another amazing part of a new time of year means new produce that’s in season! Check out your local food lovers market or produce section and see what’s back in stock.

11. Drink more water
It is crucial to ensure that you get enough water no matter what the season. Your body requires at least 8 glasses of water a day.

12. Plan
Stress over what we must achieve every day can cause our mood to deflate and our immune system to be affected in a negative way. Focus on your goal and stick to the time schedule, this will help you have a worry-free spring.

13. Smile
We have the ability to project energy. Rather project positive energy, this will not only be beneficial for yourself, but also for the people around you. People want to be surrounded by positive and dynamic individuals, be that change. The easiest way to do this is to simply smile.

14. Have some fun
We have one life, one body, one opportunity and we need to utilise it to the best of our ability. There’s no better way to do that than to do what makes you happy, with the people that you love.

Spring is all about out with the old and in with the new. So here is to a new chapter.
