It’s a new year, and many people are setting new goals for the year. But, as we all know, losing track of those goals is so easy in the long run.
Here are some tips to help you stick to that goal:
Set SMART goals. SMART goals are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
Have an accountability partner to check in on your goals and motivate and encourage you.
Break big goals into smaller ones. For example, if your goal is to lose 10 kilograms, aim for 2 kilograms in the first month, another 2kg the next month and so on. Losing 2 kilograms at a time is less intimidating than losing 10 kilograms.
Share your victories with family and friends that love and support you and your goal.
Reward yourself (in a healthy way).
Monitor your progress and set up reminders. This will help you to remember why this goal is important to you.
Put up visual reminders. If you decide to buy yourself a brand new pair of running shoes when you can run 5km in under 35 minutes, put up pictures of those running shoes around the house to remind you of your goal.
