Benefits of Boxing

We all know boxing as a sport where two people, wearing protective clothing, get in a ring and throw punches at each other, but it has also become a popular way to get (or stay) fit, also known as fitness boxing. Fitness boxing borrows routines and movements from traditional boxing, but instead, you will punch a punching bag or the air, typically in a group/class setting. 

Potential benefits of boxing
  1. Boxing will strengthen your upper body, core, and leg muscles, making it a great full-body workout. 
  2. After a HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workout, like boxing, your body is tired, and this could help improve your sleep quality.
  3. Boxing will increase your breathing and heart rate and improve your endurance because it is an aerobic exercise. 
  4. Staying active helps release endorphins, also known as feel-good hormones, into your body that can help improve your mood. The physical action of punching can also reduce your stress levels.
  5. Boxing can help improve your balance as you are constantly moving.
  6. It can also improve your alertness and hand-eye coordination. 

 

If you want to start fitness boxing, we recommend joining a class to ensure you learn the right techniques and learn a couple of basic punches.
